Old Oaks Along Entrance to Fort Meade Golf Courses Destroyed
The entrance road to the Fort Meade Golf Courses is about 1/4 mile long and was lined with mighty oak trees, some of them with trunks over four feet in diameter and hundreds of years old. It was sort of Fort Meade's version of "Magnolia Lane" at Agusta. This week (13 - 17 July 2009) construction crews started taking the trees down in preparation for construction of new buildings. It made me nauseous to see it happening. Click on the thumbnails above to see larger images.
