In the early 70's, I wrote a term paper for an English Literature course titled "Poetry in Pop Lyrics" which presented a detailed analysis of the lyrics in Don McLean's song "Vincent."
I've always considered Don McClean to be a genius lyricist. The words to "Vincent" poetically describe the paintings, life and death of Vincent Van Gogh (1853 - 1890). Many similar videos can be viewed at YouTube
